At the Artists Gala we hosted in June, we had a huge turn out of the children who's artwork was chosen to be used on the wal. We were so happy to get to meet them and talk to them about how their art was going to be used on One Mile of Love. Unfortunately, because it was a crazy evening and everyone was having so much fun, we only got to take a handful of photos of the kids with their artwork. Here are a few of the awesome kids involved with this project
Katie Coker shows off her cute and colorful owl. Katie is a student at Claiborne Elementary and attends MoJoy Studio for art classes where she created this drawing.
Here, you can see Katie's owl come to life amid a colorful garden. This part of the wall is behind Antique Alley on Commerce St., in front of Riverside Condominiums.
Eliza Reed proudly displays her whimsical drawing of her family beside a pink castle house. We love this quirky and imaginative piece! Eliza just completed 1st grade at Riverbend Elementary.
It works great on the wall worked in with other fun houses and neighborhood themed pieces on the north side of the Trenton wall.
Excuse the slightly blurry photo, but this little dude is just too adorable! Christiaun Harrell's tiny robot drawing is so much fun. He is a student at Boley Elementary.
This science section is one of our faves, and the robot, now almost 8 feet tall, is one of the focal points!
Liliana Teha Bravo from Riser Middle school drew this fantastic, and quite detailed, juke box. We love the colors and and the originality of the content.
And it looks so awesome as part of a large music scene.
Jonathan got to come and paint the part of the wall featuring his drawing.
He did a fantastic job! His friendship themed drawing is full of personality (and crazy patterned shirts!)
This is Arielle Douthit of West Ridge Middle School. She came out with friends and family to paint the panel featuring her church scene.
Here is the completed scene. Everything but the little girl figure in the pink dress was part of Arielle's design. The figure was created by another child in our community, and works wonderfully in Arielle's landscape.
The following are artists and drawings that been selected to feature but we haven't painted quite yet. Above, Kaitlyn Bowie from George Welch Elementary.
Gracie Hill-Martin, a 5th grader from Central Elementary.
DeAnna Danner, 7th Grade, West Ridge Middle
Lauren Reynolds from George Welch Elementary.
Clara and Allie Cobb, Kiroli Elementary
Kourtney Creighton, Highland Elementary
This is just a tiny representation of the 250+ artists that will be featured on the wall. We have some seriously talented kiddos in our community and we are so proud of them!
